Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and K9 Canvas when you use k9canvas.app or buy a spot on the canvas. Please read them before you buy, because a placement is permanent and we do not offer refunds.

1. What K9 Canvas is

K9 Canvas is a single shared canvas of one million spots. You pay once, upload a photo of your dog, and your dog is placed on a spot with its own coordinates and its own public page. You also receive a certificate by email, as a shareable image and a printable PDF.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract. By buying a spot you confirm that you are.

3. Your account

You do not need a password. When you need to prove who you are — for example to download your certificate again — we email a sign-in link to the address you used at checkout. Anyone with access to that inbox can use that link, so keep your email account secure.

4. Price and payment

Prices are per dog and drop as you buy more spots in a single purchase:

• 1 to 2 dogs — $1.99 each
• 3 to 4 dogs — $1.69 each
• 5 to 9 dogs — $1.59 each
• 10 to 50 dogs — $1.49 each

The maximum is 50 dogs in one purchase. The price is calculated on our servers at checkout, and the total you see before paying is the total you pay. This is a one-time charge. There is no subscription, no renewal, and no recurring fee for keeping your dog on the canvas. Payments are processed by Stripe. We may change prices for future purchases at any time; a change never affects a spot you have already bought.

5. Refunds

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds. A spot is a one-time, permanent placement, and once it is claimed it is gone from the canvas for everyone else.

Two things that are not refund situations, so you are not left stuck:

• If your photo is rejected, no spot is used. Your upload link keeps working, and you can simply try a different photo. You have not lost anything.
• If you paid but never uploaded, your upload link does not expire. You can come back and use it whenever you like. If you cannot find it, email us and we will resend it.

Nothing in this section limits any refund right you have that cannot be waived under the law where you live. If something has genuinely gone wrong, email support@k9canvas.app and a person will look at it.

6. Placement is permanent

Once your dog is placed, its spot cannot be moved, swapped, or exchanged, and we will not resell, rotate, or charge rent on it. Please choose carefully. If you pick your own spot, the coordinates you confirm are the coordinates you keep.

We intend the canvas to last. Realistically, we can only promise to keep your dog on it for as long as K9 Canvas operates as a service. If we ever have to shut down, we will give as much notice as we reasonably can and make your certificate and your dog’s image available for you to download.

7. Your photo stays yours

You keep ownership of every photo you upload. By uploading it, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, resize, display, and share it as part of the canvas — on your dog’s page, in the canvas view, in your certificate, and in the share images generated for it. This licence exists so that we can actually run the service, and it lasts for as long as your dog is on the canvas.

We may also show your dog’s photo in ordinary promotion of K9 Canvas, such as an example on the home page. If you would rather we did not, email us and we will honour that.

By uploading, you confirm that:

• the photo is yours, or you have permission to use it;
• it does not infringe anyone else’s rights;
• anyone identifiable in it is comfortable with it being public.

8. What you may upload

Photos of dogs. That is the whole point. You may not upload:

• anything that is not a dog;
• sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate content;
• content that harasses, threatens, or targets a person or group;
• images you do not have the rights to;
• advertising, logos, QR codes, or text used to promote something.

The same applies to the name you give your dog. Names are checked, and we may reject or change a name that breaks these rules.

9. Review and removal

Every photo is reviewed before it goes on the canvas. Review is automated, using an AI service, and anything the automated check is unsure about is passed to a person. Section 4 of our Privacy Policy explains exactly how that works.

We may refuse, hide, or remove any placement that breaks these terms, and we may do so without notice where the content is harmful. If we remove a dog because these terms were broken, no refund is given and the spot is forfeited, which means it may return to the pool and be sold to someone else.

If you think we got a moderation decision wrong, email support@k9canvas.app and a person will review it.

10. Memorial dogs

You can mark a placement as a memorial at no extra cost. Memorial dogs are shown with their own marker and are treated with care. We will never charge more for a memorial placement, and we will never use one to upsell you anything.

11. Founding Dogs

The first 1,000 dogs placed on the canvas receive a permanent Founding Dog badge and a founding number. The badge belongs to that placement, is not transferable, and cannot be bought separately once the first 1,000 spots are gone.

12. Using the site fairly

Please do not attempt to break, overload, scrape at scale, or find your way around the security of K9 Canvas, and do not use it to do anything unlawful. We may limit or block access that threatens the service or the people using it.

13. The service is provided as is

We work hard to keep K9 Canvas available and correct, but we provide it “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the site will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to K9 Canvas is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the spot or spots the claim concerns. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost profits or lost data. Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they simply do not apply to you.

15. Indemnity

If a claim is brought against us because of a photo or name you uploaded — for example a copyright complaint — you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update the date at the top and email people who have placed a dog with us. Changes never apply retroactively to a purchase you have already made.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the K9 Canvas business entity is formed. [The governing state and the full legal entity name will be added here once the K9 Canvas business entity is registered. Until then, this document is a draft.]
